Minute Read

The All-Star Game marks the unofficial halfway point of the Major League Baseball calendar. The weeks that follow the annual event typically determine what directions teams will take. That means every game counts a little bit more, and we’ve got the picks for this coming week’s action!

All but two MLB teams will wait until Friday to resume play. On Thursday, the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers have things all to themselves. We’ve got our pick for which team will win Thursday’s contest.

When the remaining 28 teams resume play one day later, two massive series will get underway. The Philadelphia Phillies are locked in a battle with the Washington Nationals in the two Wild Card spots in the National League. Friday, they begin a three-game series at Citizens Bank Park. We’ve got our pick to win the series.

Also, an Interleague Play matchup with a definite postseason feel, as the Boston Red Sox host the Los Angeles Dodgers. It’s a rematch of last year’s World Series, but the Red Sox are currently sitting just outside of the playoff picture. We’ll let you know which team we think comes away with this series at Fenway Park.

Finally, a long-term look. Boston is one of more than a handful of teams currently without a spot in the postseason that could make their way in. We’re picking one team apiece that will surge in the second half and ensure that they play a 163rd game this fall.
